"Water is life, life is water", a known quotation in advancing the proper preservation of one of the most vital element int supporting our lives the water was also the theme use for the forum conducted at the AVRi of the University of the Immaculate Conception, Bonifacio Campus on August 12, 2009 from 4:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon. The forum advocated the preservation of the Tamugan River.
The program was an environmental forum participated in by students in representatives from Davao City Water District with the presence of Engr. Rey Petalcorin from the Department of Electronic and Data Processing.
UIC Executive VP Internal Wilengel Miguel led the prayer which was followed by the welcome address delivered by the UIC Legislative Speaker of the house Lemuel Calatrava. Ms. Teresa Joy Fuentes was the Emcee for the event.
Engr. Rey Petalcorin presented the date in supporting the fact that the current source of water of the Davao City, Dumoy River, is in need of rest and we should have another alternative source of water to supply our need. Furthermore, he added that the Tamugan River is the only alternative source of the water for the Dabawenyos.
The message conveyed by the forum is for all to be aware of the environment issues we are facing for us to do something to help solve our society’s problems. Adding that, in helping solve the water problem, everyday water conservation is a start.
